Provo police officer fired after sex-abuse allegations

A Provo police officer is accused of offering not to arrest a driver in a traffic accident in exchange for sexual favors.
Jeffery Westerman, 33, was fired from the police department after a woman on July 23 claimed Westerman sexually assaulted her during an accident investigation the night before, said Utah County Sheriff’s Lt. Mike Brower. The victim, 29, said Westerman used his position to seek sexual favors. There was sexual contact between Westerman and the woman, Brower said.
