Ex-Mapleton controller accused of witness tampering

Provo • Former Mapleton Controller Jeannie Bell is facing a new charge: witness tampering.
Deputy Utah County Attorney Craig Johnson filed the new charge Thursday during what was originally to be a court appearance in which Bell would waive a preliminary hearing on a theft charge alleging she was paid for work she never did.
Bell did not speak during or after the hearing. But her attorney, Douglas A. Baxter, said he is not looking to make a deal with prosecutors this time.
