Artillery shell found at recycling plant not a danger

Police were called to a southwest Salt Lake City recycling business Thursday morning after an employee reportedly found an artillery shell.
The discovery was reported at 9:12 a.m. at the Western Metals Recycling facility, 4221 W. 700 South.
“We called out our bomb squad to check it out,” Salt Lake City police spokeswoman Robin Snyder said. “It turned out that it was hollowed-out and not dangerous.
“It might have been nice if whoever turned it in provided a note” to that effect, she added.
