Aubry Patterson was headed to prison for illegally trafficking in American Indian antiquities, but U.S. District Judge Dee Benson had a change of heart after he read letters from the San Juan County man’s daughters.
Patterson, 57, was sentenced Thursday to three years’ probation for selling two Abajo pots to an undercover operative during a 21/2-year investigation in the Four Corners region. He pleaded guilty in April to two felonies.
